The Arctic Comics Journal · Handbook
Project
handbook.
A small guide to stories, collaboration and the North.
This is the idea behind The Arctic Comics Journal: where the stories come from, how we work together, and how you can take part. The material from the former homepage is gathered here in one handbook.
The project
Independent arctic publication
Arctic issues drawn out
The Arctic Comics Journal fosters new connections between the arctic countries by sharing local perspectives on environmental change and globalization. These comics come straight from the hearts and minds of the people who carry these stories, shedding light on long winters.
Creating a platform for conversation and collaboration across arctic and sub-arctic regions. We gather stories from individuals in rural communities and bring them to the forefront of the public eye through comics.
We are about
Promoting voices of young people across the arctic, no matter background.
To achieve
Collaboration between arctic countries through storytelling.
We invite you
To co-create comics, songs, poems, and visuals that spark dialogue.
So that we can
Share local perspectives, strengthen community ties, and imagine better futures.
Voices & stories
Drawing styles
If your interests lie in drawing or layout, you are perfect for this project. Even if you are looking for inspiration, we can connect you with people and ideas to spark your creations.
Storytelling
Writing, singing, doodling or simply talking can inspire others. We offer a space for collaboration and conversation about life in the north and what it means to each of us.
Inspiration
Any suggestion is welcome. Sharing climate realities, communal victories, and challenges opens a window for ourselves and our neighbours on what matters most.
Taking part
The creative process opens new paths to long-standing questions. Everyone can participate by expressing their voice; together we enrich public awareness.
Pitch your idea
Send concepts, sketches or full stories. Comics can be 1–10 pages or even a single song, poem, or thought.
The former homepage announced 1 May 2026 as the print deadline. That date has passed; please contact the project about the next edition.
